Touch Up FAQs

How much paint do Touch Up Cups hold?

Touch Up Cups hold 13 FL OZ of leftover paint, the perfect amount for touch-ups down the road!

What are Touch Up Cups made of?

Touch Up Cups are made from PP5 (polypropylene) - a durable, lightweight plastic known for its chemical resistance and long-lasting performance.  It's the same type of material used in many food-safe and household containers.

What types of paint can I store in a Touch Up Cup?

Touch Up Cups work best with water-based or latex paints - the same types commonly used for interior walls, trim, and crafts.  These paints stay fresh, mix easily, and clean up with water, making them perfect for long-term storage in the Touch Up Cup.

Can I store oil-based paint in a Touch Up Cup?

While some customers successfully store oil-based paints, we generally don't recommend it.  Certain oil-based or solvent-heavy paints can soften or warp the plastic used in Touch Up Cups.  If you're unsure what's in your paint, check the label - if it mentions "solvent", "alkyd", or "lacquer", it's best to store it in the original container or other container recommended by the manufacturer.

How long will paint stay fresh in a Touch Up Cup?

Latex and water-based paints can stay fresh for 10+ years when stored in a Touch Up Cup that is kept in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.  Keep the lid tightly sealed until needed, and then just Shake n' Paint!

How should I clean my Touch Up Cups?

For latex and water-based paint, simply rinse with warm, soapy water and let it dry fully before refilling.  Be sure the silicone ring remains seated inside the lid to keep the Touch Up Cups airtight.

Are Touch Up Cups recyclable?

Yes!  Touch Up Cups are made from recyclable polypropylene.  Many recycling programs accept PP5, but check with your local provider to confirm.  Be sure to clean the cup thoroughly with warm, soapy water before recycling.

Can I use Touch Up Cups for stains, varnishes, or lacquers?

We don't recommend it.  These products usually contain harsh solvents that can damage the plastic.  Touch Up Cups work best with water-based or latex paints.
